The next phase of school reform.

England's education system has improved significantly over the past decades, but there are still children who do not receive the quality education they should.

Important questions remain about standards, autonomy and opportunity. The next phase of reform should focus on:

  • raising standards

  • tackling regional inequality

  • improving access to great schools

  • strengthening accountability

Key questions.

NSN is leading this conversation by developing evidence-based proposals on some of the most important questions facing the education system:

Academisation

What should the end point of academisation look like? How should the relationship between schools, trusts, local authorities and government evolve in a fully trust-led system?

Regional inequalities

How do we address regional inequalities in education? What reforms are needed to ensure that children can access high-quality education regardless of where they live?

Admissions

Can school admissions be made simpler, fairer and more effective? How can admissions arrangements better serve families while making more efficient use of school places?
