The group behind a new secondary free school in Essex has revealed it is close to securing its first choice of site for their permanent home.
The Ongar Academy was approved to open this September and has already filled over half of its places for its first cohort of Year 7s. The site, which was previously part of the campus of a former school, will undergo a multi-million pound redevelopment provided they receive approval from the local council.
Recently appointed Headteacher David Grant remarked; "As I have been saying to parents, this really is a unique opportunity, as for this year only they are able to apply for a place at The Ongar Academy in addition to applying for a place at an existing school through Essex County Council. In this way, parents have the power of choice, which they will never have had before."
