NSN Director: Thanks to the hard work and dedication of staff and students, free schools have topped performance rankings at Key Stage 5.

NSN Director, Unity Howard, responds to the publication of Key Stage 5 results and the success of free schools.

"Thanks to the hard work and dedication of staff and students, free schools have topped performance rankings at Key Stage 5 and are beginning to outperform leading private schools in England.

"Kings Maths School retained its spot as highest performing school and are joined by Exeter Maths School and London Academy of Excellence in the top 10 for average point score per A level entry. The success is complimented by these schools sending pupils for further study at top institutions;  London Academy of Excellence sent an unprecedented 22 students for further study at Oxford or Cambridge.

"While important to celebrate the success, this is far from a completed job to level up educational opportunity. Free schools are still limited to small pockets and many communities are yet to benefit from the policy. NSN looks forward to seeing the new Government realise its commitment to build on existing momentum and ensure that all communities can benefit from new schools."
