"It's absolutely right that there is a commitment to a full scale return to school from September - we want to see every child, every class, and every school back so that learning can get back on track. It's the right thing to do, and we can only hope that the unions see sense and don't try and obstruct this move.
“We welcome the proposals to put a protective ring around children's right to education, with minimum expectations of learning, if local lockdowns occur. It is so important that some sense of educational normality returns, particularly for children from the poorest parts of the country who have been hit the hardest.
“Let's all work together to make this happen now."
