NSN Deputy Director: Disappointing Labour Against Private Schools campaign has mistakenly targeted free schools

Wednesday, July 10, 2019
Responding to the Labour Against Private Schools campaign group, NSN Deputy Director, Unity Howard, said:

"It’s disappointing the Labour Against Private Schools campaign has mistakenly identified free schools alongside private and grammar schools. At NSN, we entirely agree on the importance of making sure all children have access to outstanding comprehensive schools. No primary or secondary free school selects on the basis of ability. Instead, we see so many free schools, which are more likely to be rated Outstanding and are the top performing type of school at Key Stage 1, 4 and 5, open in disadvantaged areas to ensure all children, regardless of their background, have access to excellent provision."
