The first free school in East Riding will be a primary school with a focus on maths and science but will maintain a balanced curriculum.
The school leaders have worked with the National Science Learning Centre in York to design their curriculum. The school will also share the same site as the National Science Learning Centre. The school will specialise in mathematics and science and will focus on enquiry and problem solving.
Chris Abbott, executive principal at Hunsley Trust, said: "There is a national priority for children to improve science and maths skills and this is also very relevant on the local agenda in terms of the emerging renewable's industry.”
"Project-based learning, which poses big thinking questions about the world around them, will be designed to help pupils become enquiring individuals."
Hunsley Primary School will open its doors September 2015 and will work with two schools in the area that have been rated outstanding by Ofsted.
