Hoe Valley School in Woking was delighted to open its doors this morning to provide its founding cohort of students with their GCSE results. Many Woking residents will remember the build up to the School opening as news of the new Free School spread. This has been a year like no other, but especially for Hoe Valley School seeing its first students through to their GCSEs. Following the nationwide lockdown, it was wonderful to be able to share their results with them in person, socially distanced of course! Whilst the School was open to Key Worker’s children throughout the bulk school closure period, and was also finally able to welcome back Year 10 students for face to face time with their teachers in the final weeks of the Summer 2020 term, but this opportunity to celebrate Year 11’s success with them has been priceless.
Mrs Jane Davies, Head Teacher of Hoe Valley School, commented, “I am immensely proud of all our young women and men of Hoe Valley School. The majority of our students have travelled with us on a five year journey starting in porta cabins in Woking Park, having a delayed move to our permanent site and then dealing with a major flood as well as the challenges of the current year; we are extremely proud of their resilience and feel privileged to have played a supportive role in developing such wonderful young people. As our Class of 2020 take their next steps we look forward to keeping in contact with them through the HVS Alumni and hearing of their further successes. We wish them well as they embark on the next stage of their journey.”
