Alternative Provision and the Schools White Paper: What Next?

Alternative Provision and the Schools White Paper: What Next?

Join the New Schools Network at the launch panel of our new report, Doing things differently: AP free schools in practice, on Tuesday 19th May from 11am.

Released ahead of the Schools White Paper in February, this report sets out a serious and ambitious programme of reform for England’s approach to Alternative Provision, and this event marks the beginning of a major NSN mission to codify effective, innovative practice in schools.

For too long, pupils in AP have been “easily forgotten, because they are out of sight and out of mind”. The result is a fragmented system with rising demand, a shortage of places at state funded schools and dire outcomes for those who have spent 12 years in education. You can read the report in full here.

This event will bring together policymakers, sector leaders and practitioners to discuss the future of AP in the context of the Schools White Paper and wider SEND reform.
