NSN is hosting a workshop in partnership with Siobhan Meredith, Headteacher of Marine Academy Primary (MAP), on effective ways of closing the attainment gap between disadvantaged students and their peers.
MAP opened in a disadvantaged area of Plymouth in 2013. In 2015, the school was rated Outstanding in all areas by Ofsted.
MAP does significant work in removing the internal and external barriers to decrease the gap in progress nationally seen between disadvantaged pupils and their peers. Last year, 87% of disadvantaged children achieved the expected standard in reading, writing and maths.
MAP recently received a SSAT Educational Outcomes Award for the high performance of Pupil Premium pupils at the end of KS2.
This session will cover:
- Innovative ways to support disadvantaged pupils
- Strategies for Pupil Premium spending
- Using the wider curriculum to support pupils
This session is open to all open and pre-open free schools, and is particularly relevant to mainstream primary schools in coastal or disadvantaged areas. The content will be aimed at a headteacher or senior leader level.
Each free school is invited to sign up one attendee. Please fill in the sign up form above to confirm your place.
If you have any questions about this workshop, please contact email@example.com.
We look forward to seeing you there.
