NSN is holding an event in partnership with The National Association of Independent Schools & Non-Maintained Special Schools (NASS) for open and pre-open special free schools.
NASS is a membership organisation that provides a voice for special schools in the independent, voluntary and private sector, including free schools. It aims to put special schools at the heart of school policy and practice, enabling them to be centres of excellence and innovative practice for children and young people with SEND. NASS works by representing special schools, conducting research to inform special education and supports special schools by offering advice and running events.
The agenda for the event has been devised to provide special school leaders with a forum to discuss key issues currently facing special free schools and to network with other special free school leaders from around the country.
A full agenda will follow shortly, but the day will include:
- Improving teacher recruitment and retention
- Challenges to admissions
- Building relationships with the Local Authority and other schools
- The new Ofsted framework
The event has been designed to meet the needs of senior leaders within special free schools. Each school group can sign up two attendees and is free to attend.
