Successful bid to DfE allows Harmonize Academy in Liverpool to improve the lives of almost 50% more students

Harmonize Academy in Liverpool has made a successful ‘significant changes’ application to the DfE to create additional student places. From the beginning of the September 2021 academic year, the number of students was officially increased from 104 to 150.

The ‘significant changes’ application involved a rigorous and challenging process, requiring Harmonize to clearly demonstrate they have a strong team with educational expertise capable of managing and governing the increased student intake.

Free School 2: The Workplace (Alternative Provision)

The Workplace is an alternative provision free school offering 94 secondary places when at full capacity. It is part of The Sabden Multi-Academy Trust. The school is industry driven and supported by strong partnerships, which enables pupils to experience simulated work environments and gain entrepreneurial skills as part of a broad an balanced curriculum. Pupils wear work appropriate uniforms, adhere to workplace behaviour standards and undertake probationary reviews.

Endeavour Academy Durham

Endeavour Academy Durham is an alternative provision school for those aged 14-19. The school, which opened in 2014, is part of the Apollo Schools Trust and can cater for up to 40 pupils who are not thriving in mainstream education. The school works closely with East Durham College, who it shares a site with, in the hope that in the future its pupils will pursue one of the many academic or vocational courses that the college has to offer. 

The Ladder School

The Ladder School is an alternative provision school for those aged 11-18 in Walsall. The school opened in 2019 and is part of The Mercian Trust. The phrase 'I can't' is banned at the school, with all students encouraged to do the best they can. Along with maths, English and science, the school day is also dedicated to teaching pupils vocational courses and life skills as the schools believe they will benefit from a non-traditional education.
