New research from The National Foundation for Educational Research shows that pupils attending a secondary free school, including those in deprived areas get higher attainment at GCSE, have a lower absence rate and are more likely to take A levels.
This research, funded by the UK Research and Innovation and carried out by NFER in collaboration with Manchester Metropolitan University, provides the most rigorous assessment to date of the impact which secondary free schools have had since their introduction in 2010.
Given this positive impact on pupil outcomes, New Schools Network calls on the Government to approve the 44 mainstream free schools currently under review, so that more children across the country can benefit from a fantastic education.
