Wallington County Grammar school submits free school bid

An existing school in Wallington, London is waiting to find out if its free school bid has been successful. Wallington County Grammar school has submitted a proposal to open a mixed comprehensive school which would cater for 1000 students when full.

The area is in need of more places and Headteacher Jonathan Wilden said; "This is a great opportunity for us to share our outstanding practice, which makes us one of the leading state secondary schools in the country. We know that through a shared culture and ethos we can replicate an amazing school."

New Schools Network has been supporting their application through our Development Programme and the group have also recieved the backing of local Liberal Democrat MP Tom Brake.
