School 21 is a secondary for those aged 4-18 Newham, South London. The school, which opened in 2013, was established by a group of teachers and education professionals who saw opening a free school as an opportunity to bring new ideas into the education system. It is part of the Big Education Trust and can cater for up to 1,200 pupils. It aims to deliver an education fit for the 21st century, which is the inspiration for the school's name. It has a particular focus on getting pupils to produce beautiful work through structured projects that cut across different curriculum subjects. There is also a strong emphasis on oracy, with pupils taught how to communicate effectively in a range of different contexts.
