Harpenden Free School

A mainstream primary school in Hertfordshire. The school, which opened in 2012, was established by a local community group and will serve 420 pupils when full. Child leadership is at the centre of the school’s offer with pupils playing a role in various decision making processes in the school such as the recruitment of staff and helping to plan topics and lessons. Outdoor learning is also an integral part of the school’s  approach, with lessons delivered and reinforced outside as many times as possible during each week .  The school is committed to maintaining strong links with the community and hosts various events and activities such as circus performances and visits from members of the community.
